A     The Ultimate Box is designed to write designs to the Ultimate Cards only. However, depending on the memory chips used at the time of manufacturing, it may also write the Amazing (Magic, Universal Embroidery Translator, Dream Maker, Bernina box) blank card and 512 Kilobyte (4Megabit) Brother blank embroidery card.

Q   Does the Ultimate Box write to the Ultimate Card, only?

Q   Does the Ultimate Box read and save designs to my computer from cards?

A     Yes, it reads and saves designs to the hard drive of your computer from most re-writable and preprogrammed design cards, except copy protected cards.

Q   Do I need additional embroidery software to use designs downloaded from the Internet or CDs?

A      The Ultimate Box and The Ultimate Card system comes with its own transfer and conversion software.

You will need embroidery editing or digitizing software if you want to make major changes to embroidery designs or create them from image files.

Q   Can I use The Ultimate Box as a dongle to activate PE-Design (Palette, Deco Wizard) or other embroidery software?

A     No, the Ultimate box cannot serve as a dongle for programs such as PE-Design that require Brother box connected in order for it to work.
The Ultimate Box can be used in conjunction with any version of any embroidery software that doesn't require an activation dongle, such as Embrilliance, Embird, Buzz Tools, etc.
You can use that software to edit designs or create new ones and save designs to the hard drive of your computer. The browsing and transferring utility that comes with The Ultimate Box only finds and sends those designs to the blank card.

Q   I've transferred several designs in PES format to the card, but my Brother embroidery machine doesn't read them and the program malfunctions. What's wrong?

A     The problem is caused by one or more designs you've put on the card. Embroidery designs are not just images, they are computer programs. The Ultimate box software may not read well designs made with certain versions of some digitizing programs.

To fix the problem, save or download the design in the embroidery format other than your machine needs. For example: use JEF design for PES machine.
Set Card format to Brother, or the one you need, in Ultimate box program and let it convert from JEF to PES. The errors will be automatically corrected.

Q   Is the Ultimate box compatible with MAC operating systems?

A     Emboxer software from Embrilliance is no longer availabe. Emboxer is a program for Intel-based Macs running  OSX 10.5 and up (Not including Catalina!)

Ultimate Explorer Basic & Plus software version 1.04

Q   Why do I get a message that a driver or FTD2XX.DLL is missing after I've installed the software?

Read Installation instructions on the Downloads page.

Q   Why when I've used the S/N from the back of the box to activate Ultimate box software ver. 1.04, it says: "Invalid number"?

A    Use the number from a CD or email that starts with UBxx-xxx-… in all capitals and with the dashes. On the next Registration Form screen use the number from the back of the Ultimate Box.

Q   What is the difference between Basic and Plus software versions?

A      Ultimate Box Plus provides all features of Ultimate Box Basic, plus, you can:

- Automatically downsize the design with stitches re-calculated to fit the hoop on your embroidery machine.
- Rotate and Mirror designs.

Q   What should I do if it says "Design is too large" when I add it to the Holding area?

A    Click on TOOLS and select Card Format Preferences. Change the hoop size in MAX. SIZE fields and click OK (i.e. 4 by 4 inches is equaled to 100mm by 100mm). If the design is too large to fit the maximum hoop of your machine, upgrade to the Plus version.

Ultimate Box with Serial port

Q   Can I install Serial port Ultimate box on Windows 7, 8 or 10?

A     Serial port box is an old product that has been discontinued in 2004. No upgrades or updates to the hardware or software are available since that time. You may try to install the Serial port box using the information on the Downloads page, but it's not guaranteed to work.

Q   What should I do if I get a message that the Serial port Box is not found?

 A     Try the following:

- With the software installed and the box connected go to Device Manager
- Uninstall/remove/delete all COM port drivers
- Restart your computer. All COM ports will be re-installed and there is a chance that your Ultimate box will be picked up by one of the COM ports.

Q   What kind of power supply is required for the Serial port Ultimate Box?

 A     You'll need a standard 120Volt AC to 12Volt DC adapter.

Q   My computer does not have Serial port to connect the Ultimate Box. Can I connect Serial port Box to USB port?

A     Yes, you can try Serial-to-USB converter cable compatible with your computer operating system. The use of USB-To-Serial converter cable doesn't convert your Serial Port box to the USB box, it's still a Serial Port box and none of the Downloads for USB box will work with it.
